Mental Health
We see many employees using their Employee Assistance programs and their para-med (psychologist/social worker) coverage for counseling. The EAP providers (Shepell, Homewood) have hired hundreds of counselors to accommodate the need. We have had to add different types of qualifications for counselors that may not be social workers or psychologists. Clinical Counsellors are one example of what insurers have been approving claims for.
The numbers show a higher incidence of divorce, loneliness, and domestic violence during Covid and working from home.
Our clients are doing more to try to reach out to those people who are struggling.
Ironically, the professionals that provide this service are also having mental health issues with the overload of clients. Hopefully, now that things open up and employees are working at the office again, this will ease the pressure on everyone.
